Solid Maple, Walnut & Cherry End-Grain Butcher Block Cutting Board
I know what you're thinking, and yes, those are some large peaches...why would someone take a picture with such large peaches... they make the 12x18" inch block look so much smaller. Where does one even GET peaches that large... Does a peach that large even taste good? Or is it like the same amount of peach flavor as a normal-sized peach, but just distributed throughout more peach... Is peach flavor actually finite? They say the billionaire and the beggar both have 24 hours in a day... does that saying apply to peaches too...flavor-wise?
Anyways, I don' think so, because I ate these peaches right after the pictures and they punched me right in the pie hole with their seemingly infinite peach flavor. So, there's that I guess...
Enough rambling, let's talk about this new butcher block. Like it's peach buddies, its awesomeness and swagger know no limits. You might say it's...IN-finite?? :)
This is an END-grain butcher block, meaning that that the exposed surface area that you cut on is the center of the wood...going into the grain. While you're really splitting hairs with the differences - end grain butcher blocks are slightly more durable than their edge grain counterparts, b/c since you're cutting into the grain, it kinda heals itself a little quicker and better. Not to say that their counterparts are little weaklings...at the end of the day we're still talking about a nearly 2" hunk of wood.
This block design is made out of solid hardwood (duh) and consists of Walnut, Cherry, and Hard Maple. Like all of our products, I hand select the rough stock wood from my local family-owned lumber yard here in Nashville, and cut and plane the rough wood myself to be used in the work you see here.
All of the woods in this block are suitable for butcher blocks, though hard maple (the center portion, and most surface area for cutting) is the industry standard for cutting boards and butcher blocks, and has been for years. Maple is hard enough to withstand the abuse of being a cutting board, but not so hard that it will damage or dull down your expensive knives. Victory! Victory!
All blocks are finished with a food-safe finish.
Let's talk about...
DIMENSIONS: 12"W x 18"L x approx 1.75" thick is what you see in the picture. This also has finger grooves cut into the bottom, which is optional. Amazingness, unfortunately, is NOT optional.
Now go on a get one, you know you want it!
